FUNDY RURAL DISTRICT
A Rural Plan is a land use regulation that helps guide development and minimizes the potential for conflicting land uses by establishing zoning standards and permitted uses within each zone.
Currently, only portions of the Fundy Rural District are regulated by a Rural Plan. This includes Rothesay Parish and portions of the former Simonds Local Service District, which weren’t amalgamated with the Village of Fundy-St. Martins.
More information on these in-effect rural plan regulations can be found below.
A New Rural Plan for the Fundy Rural District
Work is underway on a new Rural Plan for the entire Fundy Rural District. This plan will help guide how land is used and developed, with resident input playing a key role in shaping the plan to reflect local needs, values, and priorities.

ROTHESAY PARISH
The Rothesay Parish Planning Area Rural Plan Regulation (RTH-043-00) was approved on April 26, 2011 by the Minister of the Department of Environment. The purpose of the Regulation is to provide a framework for the orderly development and growth within the Rothesay Parish planning area in accordance with sound land use planning principles. This Regulation applies to the former Rothesay Parish Local Service District, which is now part of the Fundy Rural District.
Simonds PARISH
The Simonds Parish Planning Area Rural Plan Regulation (SIM-027-00) provides a framework to conserve the residential character of the area and to ensure sound management of the environment with sound land use planning principles.
This Regulation applies to the portions of the former Simonds Local Service District which weren’t amalgamated with the Village of Fundy-St. Martins. This primarily includes the community of Mispec and other properties that border the Village of Fundy-St. Martins municipal boundary. Areas of Simonds Parish that were amalgamated with the Village of Fundy-St. Martins are regulated under the Village of Fundy-St. Martins Rural Plan.
