Leaf Composting Tips for Fall
It is the time of leaves – LOTS of leaves.
Before you reach for extra bags, remember to fill your compost cart first.
Once it’s full, you can use paper leaf bags for any extra yard waste and place them out for collection on your regular pickup day.
You can also make good use of your leaves right at home:
Mow over them so they break down naturally and enrich your lawn.
Use them as mulch in your gardens to help retain soil moisture over the winter.
Save them in bags to use throughout the year as layers in your backyard composter.
These small steps help reduce waste and return valuable nutrients to the soil — good for your garden and for the environment.
